From the Central Defense Headquarters of West Papua Army (WPA), Chief General Mathias Wenda, on behalf of Melanesians and all communities of beings from West Papua expresses
our deepest and most sincere condolences
Our condolences to all Melanesian peoples, particularly people of West Sepik Province, the Somare Families and the people of our New Guinea Island,
for the passing of one of our Founding Fathers of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea Grand Chief Michael Somare.
We all enjoy our Independent State of Papua New Guinea as Somare’s legacy that will not be forgotten in human history.
The Late Somare also left his legacy of his support on West Papua independence struggle by issuing an Official Letter signed by himself and addressed directly to myself, Gen. Mathias Wenda as the Supreme Commander of TPN/OPM, and I am still holding his letter and based in Sandaun Province. This letter stated he allowed my command to based in Sandaun Province and continue the struggle until West Papua is free, as free as Papua New Guinea.
