-It is with great sadness to hear the passing away of Grand Michael Somare, former and long time Prime Minister of PNG.
He passed away last night. In 1986 the three leaders met in a private meeting and conceived the idea of the establishment of a Melanesian Speerhead group. At that time they held the positions of:
1. Michael Somare – PNG Prime Minister.
2. Fr Walter Hyde Lini – Vanuatu Prime Minister
3. Peter Kenilorea – Solomon Islands Prime Minister
